Arbor Day

Arbor Day is a nationally celebrated event that highlights the importance of trees to our environment. National Arbor Day is celebrated each year on the last Friday of April. Minnesota also celebrates Arbor Day on the last Friday in April, while individual cities celebrate on a day of their choosing. 

The date of the 2013 Maple Grove Arbor Day festival was Saturday, May 18th from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m.  The festival was held at the Maple Grove Community Center.

2013 activities included:

  • City-wide Tree Inventory information
  • The Splatter Sisters environmental show
  • Emerald Ash Borer information
  • Free tree seedlings to all participants in the Arbor Day event (while supplies last)
  • Bird feeder building sponsored by The Home Depot
  • Wood carving display
  • Buckthorn information
  • Raffle drawing for free trees
  • Free tree and garden advice by Master Gardeners
  • U of M Raptor Center show
  • Visit by Smokey the Bear
  • Free flower pots and seeds
  • Tree medallions
  • Audubon Society exhibit 
  • Reptile & Amphibian Exhibit by Reptile & Amphibian Discovery Zoo
