Experience Maple Grove

Experience Maple Grove is a new 501(c)6 non-profit destination marketing organization (DMO) created with the intention of marketing Maple Grove and attracting visitors the community. Experience Maple Grove is a partner with the City of Maple  Grove and funded through the local lodging tax. 

History of tourism in the city

Since the late 1980s, the City of Maple Grove partnered with Minneapolis Northwest Tourism to provide the marketing and tourism services for the city. In December 2020, the city notified Minneapolis Northwest of its intention to withdraw from the organization at the end of 2021. Following this notice, the city conducted stakeholder interviews to determine the best option for the future of tourism within the city. The overwhelming response was to move forward with a Maple Grove-only DMO. With that input, Experience Maple Grove was created, a board of directors featuring various community leaders were elected, and an interim president was hired.

What is a destination marketing organization (DMO)?

A destination marketing organization is an organization whose purpose is to attract visitors to the community to shop, eat, recreate, and stay. DMOs focus broadly on ensuring local, regional, statewide, national, and in some cases, international groups see Maple Grove as a top destination to visit or to host events. DMOs work directly with the community, property owners, business owners, trade organizations, and event organizers to promote the community.
